Salma Hayek was a big sensation in Hollywood after she was offered an appearance in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. Then, her Oscar nominated part in Frida brought her to the top of Hollywood. Hayek was also involved with TV, serving as the executive producers of Ugly Betty and other hit series. Salma Hayek Jimenez, daughter of Spanish and Lebanese parents, was born in Mexico on the 2nd of September 1996 in Coatzacoalcos. Hayek, who was raised in an orthodox Catholic household, was a member of the Louisiana's monastery at the age of 12 old and spent her teenage years in Houston, Texas with her Aunt. Then, in Mexico City she briefly attended the university but left to pursue acting. She eventually was a leading character in Mexican television shows. The first film role Hayek landed her decision to move to Los Angeles was in 1991. She wanted to master her English so that she could become a Hollywood actress. In 1995, following a few small jobs and a few small roles, Hayek was cast in the role of Antonio Banderas opposite her in Desperado.
